Hailey Couch and Trevor Storm worked with vastly different timelines.
But, both Easton Area High School seniors ended up where they wanted.
The pair was part of 15 athletes the Red Rovers honored during a college signing ceremony in the high school’s gym lobby on Tuesday.
Couch, the field hockey team’s all-time leading scorer, is headed to Indiana University and the Big Ten Conference. She made her commitment before her junior year.
“When I was there, it felt like home to me,” Couch said of the Bloomington, Indiana school. “I liked everyone around there. The coaching staff and all the girls were very welcoming. That definitely helped and made my decision a lot easier while comparing different schools.”
Storm’s process was a little less stable. He was originally committed to Lafayette for football before announcing his pledge to the University of Virginia on Jan. 17.
“I went down to a camp this summer and fell in love with it,” Storm said. “It kind of picked up as the season went on. It cooled down a little, obviously, when I was committed to Lafayette. Once that didn’t work out, I reached back out to the coach and they still had the interest. I went down to their game against Virginia Tech, loved it even more and knew that’s where I wanted to be.”
