Speak with family and friends when searching for a good job.  See if they are aware of any job leads that you would like.  This step is often overlooked, as employers are more likely to take a second look at someone who has been recommended.

If finding a job has been real rough, try changing the strategy you’re using for job searching.  Just because lots of places aren’t hiring for many jobs doesn’t mean you should give up.  You may consider going to another area, but make sure that you can afford the commute if you get hired.

Have a professional attitude when answering the telephone.  Your potential employer is going to call you to offer you the job, or schedule interviews.  People may be surprised to hear such a professional greeting, but they will also be impressed.

Keep in mind that profit is the motivating factor for most companies.  As you prepare for your interview, and even as you finish up your resume, you have to show off what you can do well to make the company more money.
