Requirements: A high school diploma or GED. Previous experience or education in welding, HVAC or other trade programs is a plus but not required. During the five-year program, apprentices must earn 1,000 education hours and 10,000 on-the-job hours.

Pay: On the check and total compensation (health care, pensions) for an apprentice starts at $18.36 ($29.59) and $38.91 ($59.17) for journeymen.
