WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) — Sometimes watching the Winter Olympics can put you in the mood to try a new sport or motivate you if you’re already involved in one.
At the Timberline Figure Skating Club in Wausau, members said this is the time of year when figure skating gets the most attention. Over the weekend, Mirai Nagasu became the first American and third lady ever to land a triple axel.
Kayleigh Oestreicher said, “It’s hard to get up early and go to practice sometimes. But seeing her land that triple axel, I want to go to practice, I want to be that some day. I want to do that.”
Montana Grabowsky said she couldn’t believe it, “While I’m watching I can say ‘wow, I can do that,’ or, it’s nerve-racking to see I can tell when they mess up, and I know if they’re going to fall because I’m a coach.”
The Timberline Figure Skating Club is holding its ice show on March 17th at D.C. Everest’s Greenheck Fieldhouse.
The shows are at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., tickets are $8.
